Captain McCain and I

Today the Captain and I have settled down in the study to have a talk about his adventures that he had on his ship. I am so excited to be getting this first hand. I can't imagine anyone could be so lucky as I feel now. He seems deep in thought and I don't want to interrupt him, so I am puttering around with things on my desk and getting my computer all ready to type in his stories. I have decided to just type them all in under separate folders and then compile them into a book at a later date. Finally, the Captain looks at me and he gets up and walks to the window and puts his hands behind his back and clasps them together. He is looking out at the cove when he begins to tell me his first adventure.

He said that his father and grandfather had taken their boat out and they had decided that he was old enough to come on the trip, after all he was 10 years old and should be starting to learn how to handle a boat and crew if he was ever going to be a Captain of his own boat one day. So he boarded his first ship with them both and was given chores to do every day just like the other sailors on the boat. He did his work every day digently and had no problems with doing them. Some of the sailors slacked off and they were reprimanded and warned by his father and grandfather about not doing there work. He said that back in those days, if you didn't listen to the captain and disobeyed his orders you could be punished severely and it was not unusal to have some one get a lash or two for his lack of respect for the captain. When he said this, he looked at me I think to see what my reaction would be like, but I just kept typing. I didn't want to say anything that would make him stop talking or get angry.

They had an uneventful journey all the way to India, but on the trip back to their home port, they encountered a vicious storm. the water lashed the boat from starboard to port and they had all they could do to get the sails down so that they would not be destroyed. He admitted that he was scared but he did as he was told by his father and helped tie the sails down with the other sailors. They didn't have life jackets back then so it was a dangerous thing to be on deck during this horrable storm. It seemed like it would never end and it thundered and lightening all night long and the rain pelted the boat and the water was coming over the rails and washing over the boat . The men lashed themselves down on to the rails and the masts of the sails. His father told him to go below and to stay there until he was told to come back up. As he was doing his best to get below he could see his father and grandfather lashing down the sails and tying them so that they were secure and all the others were lashing themselves down so they wouldn't go overboard.

The next day , the sea had calmed down and he awoke to a peaceful sunny day. All the sailors had all fallen asleep eventually and now were all waking up . soaked and worn out from fighting that storm last night. But the water was calm and the wind was perfect for them to open the sails again and continue on home. It was a long way to Ireland and they had a few more days of sailing yet, so they all started to get the boat back in shape for the rest of the trip.  They continued on and had no more problems and reached their home safe . No one was lost on that trip and that was a blessing indeed.  After he had told me this story he asked me if this is what I had in mind for that book I wanted to write and I smiled and said yes   it is exactly what I needed to write a book.

As I was putting some things away and still talking as I was doing it, I turned to see that the Captain had vanished again. He was gone. I settled in and started to edit the story he told me. I was smiling and happy to have finally be able to write something again. It had been awhile since I had the chance to just write without being interrupted. I must have been there for hours because when I looked up again it was dark and the lighthouse was blinking on and off in the cove. I got up and went to the patio and just looked out into the cove and enjoyed the scene there before my eyes.  Tomorrow would be another wonderful day in my new home.

The Captains Birth Place

I was looking out of the patio doors when I spotted the Captain standing on the top of the cliff overlooking the cove. I decided to walk out and talk to him. When I approached he turned and bid me a good morning.

I asked him why he was out here and he said that at times he gets lonesome for his home. His real home. I didn't know what he meant and asked him to tell me about it.

"Well Lass," he said. " I come from Ireland and I had a great great grandfather that owned a castle . It was hugh and wonderful and my parents would tell me all about the different things that went on in the castle. They took me to see it many times and each time I enjoyed it more. It had been in our family for generations and my clan still live around that castle. My great great grandfather and his sons  and there sons were the Lairds of this castle and our clan. They had fought many battles defending the castle and lands around it. Our lands. Our clans lands. I grew up on all the stories and mysterys of Ireland. The beautiful causway and the sea. These all called to me since I was a wee lad. I was entralled by the long boats and the mighty sails that fluttered in the wind and took these boats to all parts of the world. I decided then and there that I would be a Captain one day and man my own boat and many more . I have sailed up and down Irelands coast and all of the other countries for dyes and spices and many other goods that were not available in Ireland. I canna tell you all the joy being on the boat and letting the wind take you out toward other land feels. It is like being in your own world and you are the master of it and no one can take that away from you."

I just listened quietly and stood there as the Captain gazed out into the cove and watched the boats coming in and going out. He was in his time and on his journeys. He was silent for a long time and we both just stood there, each in our own world just enjoying the scene before us and remembering happy moments from the past.

All at once, he started to speak again and said that he would like me to write a book about his adventures if I felt like it. I was thrilled. I had wanted to aske the Captain if he would let me do just that thing , but I was a little afraid that he would not. I smiled, and said that I would be honored to write his stories down and we could start anytime he wanted.

"well, lass," he said. " I will let you have some time every day and you can write and ask me about my adventures." "but, you must promise me one thing, that you will not mention that I am a ghost and reside in this house. I donna want everyone coming here to bother me ." "Will you promise me that lass?"

I smiled. "Of course, I will promise," I said. "I feel the same as you do. I don't want anyone coming and bothering me either." So we made this deal standing watching the boats and just enjoying the view. Tomorrow I will start writing about the Captains adventures. I can hardly wait.

THANKING THE CAPTAIN

Yesterday started out so nice, I thought as I sat at the kitchen table drinking a cup of coffee. The walk with the Captain and the tour of the house, until that jerk of an ex showed up and tried to hassle me.  I was so scared. Thank goodness that the Captain was around. I must thank him to day when I see him because I don't know what would have happened had he been elswhere and not able to help me. I am not strong enough to handle that jerk.

I will take my coffee into the office and hopefully get some writing done today. It has been awhile since I have had the time to just sit and write. Maybe the Captain will come in and we can talk a bit and I will thank him again for what he did for me.

After I had been typing for about two hours, I felt the curtains blowing in a warm breeze. I looked up and there was the Captain. Just standing by the window looking out at the cove. He didn't say a word to me. Just stood there as if he was in some other place or time.

I got up and walked over to him and touched his shoulder and he turned his head toward me. He looked very upset. I started to thank him for the night before but he interrupted me and said.

"How could you have ever been engaged to someone like that man that came here yesterday?" "He is a complete idoit and has no manners at all, Lass. He didna care that he was hurting you and made me very angry when I saw him grabbing you and throwing you around." "What if I had not been close to help you?" "I am going to have to keep a closer eye on you ,lass because you seem to be needing someone to watch over you."

I just stared at him. Well, who did he think he was yelling at me like that and looking at me with a face that could sink ships.l very quietly went back to my desk and sat down and turned to face this scowling hugh man who had his hands on his hips. He looked as if he dared me to say something back to him.

"My dear Captain,"I said. "I appreciate all that you did for me last night." "I really was frightened by that jerk, but I don't think he will ever come back here again." "I don't think that you will have to watch every move that I make so that I will be safe." "I assure you that I am quite capable of taking care of myself."

"Hurrmp!!", he said, "You didna do such a good job yesterday." "If I had not been here in the house and heard the commotion who knows what might have happened to you." "So didna tell me that you do not need protecting Lass." "I'll not speak of this again." "I'll not let any harm come to you while I am here to protect you from people such as him. In my time, we would have keel halled the man and he would think twice about hurting a fine woman as yourself."

Keel halled, my goodness, I thought. In one way it scared me, but in another it made me feel so good that this man that barely knew me was willing to be a guardian for me. I simply thanked him and got up from my chair and approached the Captain. He just stood there with his hands clasped behind his back and waited as if he expected a fight from me. I did surprise him when I smiled and put my hands on his chest and stood up on tip toes and kissed his cheek and simply said."Thank you my dear Captain, Sir"

AN UNWANTED VISITOR

Breathlessly I open the door but the smile on my face quickly disappears because at the door is my ex-fiance. How he found out where I am I don't know but I am not happy about this at all. I try to close the door, but he just puts his foot in the door and lets himself in to my house.

"Get out, I shout at him!" "I told  you that I didn't want to see you again!" "Now go, before I call the police and have  you taken away for trespassing."

He says," I am not going anywhere until you and I have a nice talk. I don't know why you left in such a huff. You didn't even give me a chance to explain about that night."

"I don't need any explaination, I saw and heard with my own eyes and ears what was going on in that garden." "Of all the dumb things to do, in my own home too. You are not welcome here and I want you out."

He reaches out and grabs me and trys to kiss me and I start to fight and try to get away, but he is too strong for me. I scream and for a moment he is shocked and loosens his hold on me.  I start to run away to the back of the house and to the garden.  I know he won't be able to find me there, but I don't reach the door. He is too fast for me and overtakes me and grabs me again. I yell out for he is hurting my arm now and pulling me back into the house.

All of a sudden his hold on me is released and he is thrown across the room and lands on the floor. I just stand there not knowing what is happening. I am scared and frightened. He gets back up and he really looks angry now and he starts for me again. I turn to run, but all of sudden he is lifted up and it looks like he is flying as he is carried to the front door. The door opens and he is thrown out and he lands on the ground. He gets up but doesn't try to come back to the house . Instead he runs to his car yelling out that I will be sorry some day for breaking up with him that no one will want a crazy writter. I just sit on the floor and start to cry. I had hoped that I would be able to come here and have a new start. Suddenly the Captain appears and he sits on the floor with me and takes me in his arms and holds me as my body is racked with sobs. He softly whispers that all will be alright and that he will never let anyone hurt me again. I just let him hold me and cry  my heart out. Time passes and he holds me tenderly until I am all cried out.

It has gotten dark now and suddenly I feel so tired and worn out. The Captain takes me in his arms and carries my upstairs to my room and puts me down outside my bedroon door and says to go and have a good nights rest.  I look at him with tear stain eyes and I don't know why but I took his face in my hands and kissed him on the cheek and said thank you. He looked so surprised and put his hand on his cheek and smiled.  I turned to open the door and I wanted to thank him again, but when I turned around he was gone.  He disappeared again.

I smiled as I entered my room. I guess my ex won't be bothering me here anymore. Finally, I will be at peace. Alone to do as I see fit and with whom I see fit.  I need a good nights rest.  Thank God for the Captain. Who knows what would have happened if he weren't here to protect me from that monster.   I am soooo  tired.

EXPLORING MY NEW HOME

As I walk back to the house I have decided to stroll through the massage gardens in the back of the house. What I saw there took my breath away.  There were bushes and bushes of Peonies all around the mansion and up and down the curved lane. They were pink and white and yellow and a dark red. I will have to take some pictures of these beauties and put them in frames and hang in my new home. I love the flowers and I have fallen so much in love with this house of mine. I feel so at peace here and I know that I will be able to get a lot of writing done now. There were just too many distractions where I lived before and the heartbreak of losing my fiance was just the last straw. I needed a new start and I know now that I was drawn to this house. It was made for me. I can feel it in every fiber of my body.

I am going to enter and snoop around and see exactly what the rooms look like with some of my things in them. I think I will start with the kitchen. It is so outdated, but quaint and the only thing I have added is a refrigerator and dishwasher. The stove was here and it is black cast iron. I love it and it will stay. I really don't cook that much so it will do for me.  there is only a long wooden table in this kitchen which shows years of wear. someone cooked here alot and you can see the cuts and grooves in the table from a cook working there. The Captain must have had a cook residing or coming in  to cook for him when he was home. This is a warm kitchen with a hugh fireplace in it. very old and very lovely.

Connected to the kitchen is the formal dinning room and it is so elegant. The table can easily hold 30 or more guests and it is a beautiful mahognay. with hugh high backed chairs to match. the seats and backs of the chairs are padded with a maroon silk and it has very tiny beige strips across them. How lovely they are. I can almost picture a dinner here.

(suddenly the Captain appears) "Well, lass, you are admiring the table and chairs that I had shipped here from Italy." He ran his hand over the top edge of the chair and table and said. "This golden streak around the table and around each chair is made of 14 carat gold and the small figures you see embedded in the gold are flowers of and leaves that go all around the table and chairs. The dark mahogany brings out this decoration and I fell in love with it the first time I saw it."He said.

This room was hugh and had high ceilings and scones with candles in them all around the room hanging on the walls. They were only for decoration as there were mamoth crystal chandeliers , three of them , hanging over this table . I simply stared in awe of all this beauty and walked around the room looking at all the great pictures hanging on the walls. On the one side of the dinning room was another long dish cupboard and inside where the most wonderful array of dishes and cups and saucers I have ever seen. Arranged elegantly and there had to be a service for at least 50 people. All porcelin and with gold rims and a small family crest on the top of each dish and on the side of each cup. How wonderful this table must have looked all decked out in this finery. The silverware drawer was as wonderful as all that I had seen in here. Each piece had the family crest on the handle and each crest was encircled in gold. Lovely! Astonishing ! Absoultely astonishing! What a room to entertain people in for dinner.

(The Captain just watched as I walked and looked around and smiled. You could see that he was very proud of his choices in this room. He didn't say anything else, just stood by the head of the table and watched as I looked everything over and commented on each new thing I saw.)

When I turned to say something to him, he had gone again. That man was always appearing and disappearing. Then the doorbell rang and so I quickly ran out of the dinning room and down the hall to the front door to see who had come to visit me already. No one knew that I bought this place but a few good friends. I wondered who it would be.

Walk with the Captain on the land

Today I am to have the honor of being shown the property with the Captain as my guide. He appeared as I was having breakfast and asked if he could take me about. He said that he has not been out of his home for a long time because he had to watch out for all those people that wanted to buy his home and change everything about it. One in particular he disliked. A man he said that wanted to change the mansion into a hotel. Oh!! some of the things he did to get rid of that fellow made me laugh out loud.  He had to laugh himself when he told me about them.  The man had asked to stay the night because he didn't believe the local stories of a ghost in the mansion.  Well, the Captain told how he moved his coffee cup around the table. Made the doors open and slam shut, Laughed loudly in the bedroom where he decided to sleep the night. Made the table rise and kept turning the lights on and off. He had to laugh himself when he said that the man jumped up out of bed and grabbed his clothes and ran out of the house in the middle of the night. I could just picture that scene and smiled. I asked him how far he was able to travel outside of his house, I thought he had to stay in the house .He said no, that he could go any where on his property but not off of it. He was to stay in the house and only as far as his property went.

He took me for a walk through a wooded area and I could hear water cascading loudly and asked him where that sound was coming from. He looked at me and smiled and said,"Have a wee bit of patience lass, enjoy what I am showing you, soon you will see where that sound is coming from."

When we walked out of that small wooded area I just stopped and looked in awe. Right before me was the most beautiful mountain waterfall I have ever seen in my life. There were three or four separate streams of water cascading over this mountain and that was the sound I had heard as the water fell . The area had a sweet minty smell and a slight mist could be felt as we neared this marvelous scene. I had no words to explain how I felt standing there and looking at this magnificent natural creation. All thoughts escaped my mind as it was filled with the beauty and overwhelming feeling of peace that this mountain waterfalls gave to me. The Captain stood just looking at me and then the falls, and he finallyspoke in a soft voice.

"Now you see lass, not just anyone could have this home and land of mine." "I wanted someone that would appreciate all this natural beauty and not change a thing. Many a day and night I have spent here. Just enjoying the peace it brings to my heart and soul." "I can see that it affects you the same way lass, and that makes me feel the better for chosing to let you stay."

I was speechless. I just stood and admired this gift. I was not showned this when I came to see the house. I asked the Captain if the others had seen this waterfall when they came to look at the house, he let out a loud laugh and said no that he had scard them away long before they ever got to see any of the property. He knew that if they saw this wonder of nature it would be harder to make them go away.

I felt quite honored that the Captain brought me here and I asked him if he would mind if I wrote about it and he just smiled and said that it was fine with him as long as I let him read whatever I wrote. He said he hadn't had anything new to read in a very long time. We agreed on this small concession, for I told him he could read anything that I wrote if he chose too.

Then he said he wanted to show me the shore line on the other side of his property and so we walked for about fifteen more minutes and there before me was the cove and there were sail boats slowing making their way out into the ocean. They looked so beautiful in the morning light as they made their way out of the cove. In the distance you could see the white lighthouse with the American flag fluttering in the soft breeze. It was as if you were looking at a picture made by a famous artist. How lucky I was to stumble onto this mansion, and cove. How lucky that the Captain was giving me a chance to prove that I meant what I said about not changing a thing in that beautiful mansion and not letting anyone take anything out.

I think it is going to be quite an adventure living in this mansion with a ghost in attendance. We stayed on that hill overlooking the cove and watched the boats for a very long time. Peace, peace is all I could think of as I stood there. I don't know how long I was daydreaming , but when I went tospeak to the Captain , I turned and he was gone.  He had left or disappeared because I could see two people walking toward me from the other side of the hill.  I wasn't expecting company and wondered why they were there. Well, I would find out soon enough as they neared and waved at me. I waved back and finally they were standing in front of me. I asked what I could do for them and smiled. They said that they had seen me walking on the hill and just thought to say hello and introduce themselves as they were my neighbors and owned the land ajoining mine. I thanked them for coming over to introduce themselves and said that I had better get back to the mansion as I still had alot of things to do before the place would be completely finished. They nodded and started to walk away and said that they would be inviting me to dinner soon and hoped that I would come and meet their family and some of the neighbors around. I told them it would be wonderful and I would love to come, but to give me a little time to settle in to my new home.  It was agreed that in the near future I would go and have dinner and meet with  them.

I started back to the mansion and picked wild flowers on the way. How many beautiful fields of color were before my eyes. It was like looking at rainbows waving in the breeze. Oh!! I know I am going to love Cutters Cove, and my new home and all the new adventures I knew I would experience here. I could only smile and continue my walk back home.   Home---what a marvelous thought. MY HOME.

My Day at McCains Mansion

There are so many things in this office  I have set up to look at and enjoy. The captain  had all his nautical instruments on these shelves. His sextant to check his naviagation by the stars. His charts of the oceans and the seas. How wonderfully they have all been preserved. These are all priceless objects that I will treasure. I so love the sea and I have written many articles and books on vogages taken by all the captains that I have been able to find material in my researches on.  This is like finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow for me.  I will open this sideboard and exam each and everyone of these jewels. (suddenly , papers start flying off the desk and the computer is turned on )

What the heck!! what is going on here!! Geez!! did I forget to close the veranda doors. NO they are closed. Well, well, this must be a visit from the ghost that lives in this house, MY house now.

"Ok! Don't get your dander up. I am not going to break any of your things here. I just want to look at them and I will put them back.  I don't intend to damage any thing that was yours and I promise that nothing that is in this house will leave this house." " Now, can we come to some sort of agreement on what I can do and not do, after all it is my house now."

(the curtains start bellowing out and she can hear a laugh coming from the area of the captains desk. And right before her very eyes she see the Captain himself, standing there by his desk and looking at her with laughter in his eyes and a smile on his face)  He speaks to her."Well, lass, I see that I have met my match at last. You are not afarid of me at all are you?" Those others were wimps and ran at the least thing I did, but I can see that you are here for good ." It might be good to have someone to talk to from time to time . It has been along time since I have been able to do that with anyone. " "I will give you a chance then, and see what you are about lass, and if you keep your word about all that you have said then maybe all will be alright."

I stood there in shock and just looked at this hugh handsome man, all decked out in a suit from his time. waist coat and all. He has a well trimmed beard and long black hair to his shoulders that he keeps tied back with a leather strap. How wonderfully strong he looks and so wise. I hope that he will have long talks with me and tell me all about his travels and adventures so that I can write them all down for the world to read. How great that would be.

I settle down to work at my computer and he just wanders around watching and I am so absorbed in my work that i don't notice when he leaves, or that night has fallen. I only notice when it seems so dark and I see the light from the lighthouse as it circles around and around. I get up and go out on the veranda and look to the north. How beautiful that lighthouse is in the night. Take a look at it here. I have put its picture on this site for you to see it.

CAPTAIN MCCAINS SAILBOAT

Oh! I have slept so soundly. I had worked so hard yesterday getting this place all fixed up for me to enjoy. Today I want to go and snoop into all the rooms and I haven't even slept in the room I picked as mine. I choose the Captains room. I love the way it looks and feels in there. The furniture is all mahongy an warm. Hugh 4 poster bed and glass covered shelves with many of the Captains private possessions. There is a replica of the Captains ship also. What a beautiful ship it was. Look at it in full sail. I can close my eyes and imagine how it felt to be on that ship sailing around the world and seeing the world from the Captain's eyes. How exciting it must have been to just leave port and take off and be on your own just you and the ocean. Days of peace and solitude. Oh, I am sure he had his storms and bad weather to contend with, but this Captain loved all of it. I can tell by his home, this room. His mentos, the journal he wrote is setting on his night table yet. I am going to enjoy reading that and will read some every night. What a wonderous home I have found!! Every night I get to walk out of this bedroom doors and on to the veranda and look out to the ocean and see the lights from the lighthouse and hear its sad sound. I love hearing the waves as they hit the rocks below and the winds carry the cool breeze from the water up here. But now, I must go and find something to eat, for I am famished.  I have a lot of exploring to do in the next few days.

(hump!! Well, at least she isn't going to change my home like the others wanted to do. I like the way she talks about the water and the view. Also she has respect for my things. The others were going to give them away, huh!!! no way! I will have to give her a few more days before I decide if I want her here.  Time will tell if she will be the one to take over this house with me living in it here.)

Moving IN Captain McCains Home

Well , today is the day. Hannahs' Maids are here and I have my van full of all my things that I need to set up housekeeping in my new home. Jo looks a little apprehensive about entering the house but I have assured her that all will be well. There has been no sightings of a  ghost for a long time and I felt that most of the stories were exaggrated anyway. Time to get these things in and start enjoying my new home. I have walked through the house and found many beautiful and special things that the Captain must have brought from all the different ports he visited. They are all so beautiful and I have decided not to change a thing in the house. I love the way it feels and looks in this house. It is more like a small mansion than a house, but I love the room . There is a hugh library full to the ceiling with books, all different subjects and authors. In the middle is a large desk where I will set up my computer for my writing. Today this house is full of people. The movers and Hannah's Maids and I are so busy cleaning and carrying things in that I will have to look at the other rooms another day, but you can be sure I will check them all out. Everyone of them and the attic too. I bet there are alot of interesting things here to look at and many rooms to explore.

(Oh! No! She is back, and look at all the people she has brought into my home. That woman!! I should have scared her off the first day she came to look at my home. Now look at her, she is setting up some thing on my desk that I have never seen before. What are ya doing woman?  Do you really think I am going to let you stay here then? I shall have to think of something very special to scare her away. She looks kind of frail and I don't think it will take much to make her run out my door. Ha Ha, this will be fun.)

Well, it is nightfall, and the Maids are all done and I have my office all fixed up. I am so tired that I will just wander into the kitchen and get myself one of the leftover sandwiches that Hannah made and a cup of tea and go into the office and rest. Tomorrow is another day for me to explore this house and I have shopping to do and just maybe change a few things around. Ahhh! this tea is good and this sandwich hits the spot.  I am so sleepy. I'll just lean back in this nice lounge chair here by the fireplace and relax. Till tomorrow then, as she drifts off to sleep.

(While above the fireplace in the hugh picture hanging there of Captain McCain He just looks down on her with a scowl on his face. Yes, He thinks, tomorrow we shall see what is going to be in store for you young lady. You better get your rest, you are going to need it.)

WALKED DOWN TO THE COVE

Well, I just got back from the bank in town and I am the proud owner of Captains McCain's home. Lot, stock and barrel. All contents included. I am kind of tired to start cleaning up and I have hired a crew to come in and help me. There is this small outfit that the bank manager told me about that will come in and help me clean up the place. It had a rather cute name. It is called Hannahs' Maids. On their insignia are small smiling angels. Well, I need those angels, for this big house.  I stopped and they will come tomorrow to help me unpack my things and clean so that I will be able to stay there tomorrow night. I hope if there is a ghost he doesn't scare away my help. Gosh, it is so lovely here, I am going to walk down to the cove. The path is paved so I won't have any problems with these high heels. Dressing up is such a nuisance, high heels and all. I am glad that I am a writer and can do my job at home where I can be myself. Much rather be in my sweats then these play clothes.  Oh!! How lovely! Look at that shore and the white lighthouse. There is even a chair here. I wonder if it was the captains or someone else that he scared away. Ah!! I think I will just stoop down on the ground and rest right here. I love to watch the water coming in to the land. The waves gently kissing the sand and once in awhile leaving a tiny shell here and there. The seagulls singing their songs as they pass overhead. I could sit here for hours just enjoying the scene, but I have to get back to town and start packing my van so that tomorrow I can come back and move in to my very first home.  Wow!! My very first home. That sounds so wonderful. I can't wait. As of tomorrow I will have this place all to myself.

(hummm, who is that down by the cove? Why it is that pesty woman that was here yesterday. Didn't the realtor tell her that a nasty old sea captain lives here? I hope the people in the town told her about all that went on down here. Maybe she is just snooping around in my cove looking for seashells. I hope so, I don't want anyone in my home. This is my santuary. I'll not be putting up with frilly curtains and dollies all around my furniture. Ahhh!! she is getting up and going away.  Good!! Must have scared off another one.)

Well, I really hate to leave. But it is getting late and I have so much to do.Now , let me think, where did I put that list. Gosh! I can't do anything without my list. There it is on the dashboard.  Good.  Goodnight  MY HOME!! How good that sounds! Be back tomorrow for good. You are all mine now.  All mine!!!!!!!

CAPTAIN THOMAS Mc CAINS HOME

On a lonely road far out of town there is a beautiful old house that sets on top of a high hill overlooking Cutters Cove. From the front windows you can see the cove with the lighthouse that turns on each night to warn sailors of the rocks below it. Cutters Cove is to the south of this lighthouse and was owned by a sea captain by the name of Thomas McCain. He came from Scotland to settle in the state of Maine. Built a shipping business and did very well for himself. He built this beautiful home and whenever he was in port, he would come here and stay sometimes for a month or two before he got the urge to sail away again and off he would go and be gone. It is a hugh old mansion and because the captain had no kin  all of his possessions are still in the house. Others have tried to purchase this home because it is so special being in the cove and all, but have been scared away by what they say was a terrible ghost. I am determined to have this home as I fell in love with it at first sight. I have never seen such a place in all of my life and there is something magical about this house. I can feel it. Tomorrow I will start cleaning and getting it ready for me to move into.  I can't wait for my new life to begin at Cutters Cove.
